The Beaumont Police Department is mourning the loss of a four-legged "brother in blue" as K-9 Nicky died over the weekend, Sgt. Cody Guedry reports.

Nicky "passed away quietly at his home" in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 26, Guedry stated in a news release.

UPDATE: Not guilty: Jury accepts self-defense rationale in Mother’s Day stabbing


A Beaumont woman police and prosecutors say murdered her fiancé over a bad Mother’s Day gift in 2012 was in court this week claiming she acted in self-defense rather than out of malice.


Officers from area law enforcement agencies, friends of the force and family of fallen officers gathered at the front steps of the Beaumont Police Department downtown station May 12 to honor heroes of justice slain in the line of duty.

As the ceremony opened, uniformed officers escorted family members of fallen officers to their seats in the front rows near the steps leading up to the memorial star displaying badges emblazoned with the names of 17 officers killed while protecting and serving the populace.

Charlsie Jones, a longtime legal assistant at the 9th Court of Appeals, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and charged with murder after Beaumont Police detectives allege she shot her husband to death Saturday, April 30.

Aside from multi-agency police department collaboration and good old-fashioned police work, Beaumont Police Department Chief Jimmy Singletary said it will take citizen involvement to combat the rash of “smash-and-grabs” and home burglaries occurring in the city.


A hidden compartment in a vehicle stopped as part of a narcotics investigation couldn't conceal a kilo of heroin from Beaumont K-9 officers, reports the Beaumont Police Department (BPD). 


Beaumont Police Traffic Investigators are seeking the public’s help with information about a traffic crash that occurred Saturday, March 5, around 3:25 p.m. in front of Raceway.

Officers responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and were advised the driver’s injuries were possibly non-life threatening.

The motorcycle operator died later that day from injuries he sustained in the crash.

He was identified as Jaime Joseph Jacob, a 33-year-old male from Lafayette, Louisiana.

Detectives with the Beaumont Police Department arrested a suspect in an early morning shooting that occurred Thursday, Feb. 25, BPD Officer Carol Riley reported.

According to Riley, officers responded to the 4100 block of Maida Road in reference to a victim of a shooting at 3:21 a.m. Upon their arrival at the scene, they located a 33-year-old black female on the floor of an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound to her top left chest. EMS transported the woman to St. Elizabeth Hospital.
