Thursday, Jan. 12, at 6:57 p.m., Beaumont police responded to the Family Dollar at 1005 Washington in reference to a robbery. A BPD press release says the suspect, Kevin Savoy, a 44-year-old Beaumont man, entered the store and stole several items, then attempted to assault an employee. Savoy was placed under arrest for robbery and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
Gregg Ruth has been creating designer jewelry for three decades, with stores in New York City and California. He made one of his regular trips to Southeast Texas and Louisiana, visiting Nederland Jewelers in Beaumont on Dec. 21 to meet with local collectors.
