A 27-year-old federal prison inmate has been indicted for escaping from prison and returning with contraband including home-cooked food, tobacco, booze and drugs, announced U.S. Attorney Alan R. Jackson Feb. 8.

Joshua Randall Hansen was charged in the two-count indictment with escape from a federal facility and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.  The indictment was returned by a federal grand jury on Feb. 7, 2018.

Update from the Eastern District of Texas, Feb. 9:

A 27-year-old Beaumont, Texas man has been arrested for federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney Alan R. Jackson.

Mark Avery Rudd was arrested today pursuant to a criminal complaint issued by the U.S. District Court charging him with possession of an unregistered destructive device.  Rudd appeared in federal court this afternoon on the charges.

From the Texas Education Agency: Commissioner of Education Mike Morath notified leadership in the Beaumont Independent School District on Tuesday, Feb. 6, that the transition from the current appointed Board of Managers to an elected Board of Trustees will begin.

Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at 10:50 p.m., two suspects committed an aggravated robbery at the Shop N Save located at 2675 S. Fourth St.

The crime was captured on the store’s video surveillance system. The suspects are described as a heavy set, light skinned black male wearing a gray jacket with two blue stripes down the arms, camo shorts, and black Nike slides. The male is armed with a black rifle during the commission of the Robbery. Detectives believe that the second suspect, wearing the camo jacket and hospital mask, may be a black female.

Friday, Feb. 2, around 1 p.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force were investigating complaints about narcotics being sold from a house on Houston Street in Beaumont.
