Two Beaumont men, 22-year-old Kendrick Malbrough and 19-year-old Jaquavian Mayberry, were arrested on multiple charges in Beaumont on Wednesday, June 13.

Calder Woods is inviting the public to join residents and their families for its 14th annual Antique Car Show at the senior living community. 

Friday, June 15, from 9 a.m. – noon, more than 20 classic cars will be on display. Guests will have the opportunity to place votes for their favorites, and trophies will be presented for “Best of Show,” “Oldest Car” and more.

Madison’s on Dowlen in Beaumont will host the return of Podunk along with special guests Six String Mafia and Curse & The Cure on Saturday, June 16, at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are $10 for general admission and $13 for reserved. They formed in 1992, and members include Jason Touchette (guitar, lead vocals), Duncan Isenhower (guitar, vocals), Paul Soroski (bass) and Brian Hays (drums).

Wednesday, June 13, at 3:55 a.m., a Beaumont police officer was patrolling the 2300 block of North 21st Street when he saw two males burglarizing a white Dodge Ram pickup truck. Both males attempted to flee but the officer was able to catch Jakarius Wilson, a 17-year-old Beaumont resident. The second male was not apprehended. He is a black male, approximately 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds. He was wearing red shorts and may go by the name “Trey.”

Jakarius was transported to Jefferson County Jail and booked in for burglary of a vehicle.

Jonathan Matthew Torres

A 40-year-old Beaumont man has been indicted and charged with federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown on June 6.

Jonathan Matthew Torres was indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with use of an explosive to damage property, possession of an unregistered destructive device, and mailing a threatening communication.

Police in Beaumont are currently investigating the second fatal shooting on June 7, this one occurring at the Cypress Bend Apartments.

Beaumont Police Department Sgt. Cody Guedry reports that officers responded to the apartments, located at 1450 N. Major Drive in Beaumont, at nearly 10 p.m. Thursday night and arrived to find a victim on a stairwell in the apartment complex. The victim was non-responsive and had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper chest area. Beaumont EMS was on the scene and determined that the victim was deceased.

Charlene Fertitta Busceme, 87, of Beaumont, died Saturday, June 2, 2018. She was born February 16, 1931, to Josephine and Charles Fertitta.

The National Park Service will be hosting a family fishing event at the Lower Neches Valley Authority Neches River Saltwater Barrier in Beaumont, Texas in celebration of Free Fishing Day 2018 on Saturday, June 2. The event starts at 9 a.m. and will last until 1 p.m. According to the Park Rangers and TPWD Certified Angler Education Instructors will be in attendance to assist in education and instruction of basic fishing skills. Some fishing gears will be available to use, however participants can also bring their own equipment.

Water playground devices at seven different Beaumont parks will be turned on Saturday, May 26.

The parks include Chartlon-Pollard, Cottonwood, Halbouty, Liberia, Perlstein, Pine and Roberts Park. Unfortunately, Central and Roberts Park’s water playground devices are still under repair.
