After releasing the pictures and names of three persons of interest in the recent robberies in Beaumont, officers with the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) took a suspect into custody, Saturday, Sept. 15.

According to a press release from BPD, on Friday, September 14, following a series of robberies in the Beaumont area, BPD detectives obtained an aggravated robbery arrest warrant for 18-year-old Jacorry Jamard Green and arrested him the next day.

The adoption fee for all dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies at the Beaumont Animal Care was permanently lowered by vote of City Council, Tuesday, Sept. 11.The fee is $70 and still includes the pet being spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Alfred Marqueal Smith, a 42-year-old Beaumont man, was arrested on two counts of sexual assault after Beaumont Police Officers responded to the 6300 block of Chinn Lane in reference to two girls that had been kidnapped Monday, September 3, at 2:23 a.m.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has identified the victim of a an auto-pedestrian crash that occurred Aug. 30 in Orange County as a missing person, according to Sgt. Stephanie Davis. 

DPS originally received the report of the auto-pedestrian accident at about 2 a.m. the day of the crash. The crash occurred around 3 miles west of Vidor, near mile marker 858.

With a violent rash of convenience store robberies plaguing Beaumont, business reps like Exxpress Mart/ Tri-Con operations manager Ron Nicklas say it’s imperative to the community’s safety that the bad actors committing these crimes be weeded out of the crowd.

“Our point of view is pretty straight forward,” Nicklas said. “It’s not like Beaumont is some sort of crime-ridden city. It’s not like there’s bands of thieves going from store to store stealing…”
