Beaumont

I’ve put the dates of Nov. 3-5 on my calendar and maybe you should too. The Golden Triangle Rose Society (GTRS) of the American Rose Society is hosting the 2017 Convention and Rose Show right here in Beaumont. Rose loving folks from all over Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana will be at the welcome reception that kicks off the convention at Tyrrell Park Garden Center Building on Friday, Nov. 3, 6 p.m.

Starr

This is Starr, a cute female spaniel mix who weighs about 20 pounds.  Starr is about 1 1/2.   She seems lonely and uncertain about people, and doesn’t understand a kind voice or loving hand. Starr needs an owner who will be patient, nurturing and understanding. An experienced owner who has worked with animals who have fear would be ideal. Starr would not do well in a home with children. She is a dog that needs love. Will YOU give her that chance?

Tara Hoch of Beaumont

Tara Hoch, of Beaumont, is turning her international passion into a profession.

A senior political science major at Lamar University, her interest in worldwide affairs stems from childhood experiences abroad.

“We lived in Canada until I was six, but when I was four years old, my family relocated to the Central American country of Belize for a year while my father was involved in the Belize River Watershed Water Quality Project,” said Hoch.

Living in a foreign country was an impressionable experience for Hoch at such an early age.
