Police in Beaumont are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred Jan. 13 at the Fun Time Game Club located at 1425 College St.

According to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded to the game room at about 7:15 p.m. in reference to a robbery in progress. When officers arrived, they were told that at least two black male suspects entered the business wearing all black and armed with handguns. The suspects demanded money from patrons and the business owner, witnesses described. After taking the money, the suspects fled the business on-foot.

Robert W. Brown, 57, of Beaumont passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Scott Olive Baptist Church with burial at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Mercy Funeral Home. Visitation is noon – 5 p.m. Tuesday at Mercy Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the church on Wednesday. His love and memories will remain in the hearts of his wife, Ann Young Brown; three sons: Robert C.

Monday, Jan. 8, at 3:54 p.m., Beaumont police responded to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 6100 block of Hwy 69 southbound, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.

When officers arrived, they located a male lying in the roadway.

At this time, police said it is unclear whether he was attempting to cross Hwy 69 or if he was walking next to the inside lane when he was struck by a Dodge Ram pick-up.

Fifteen students and two staff members from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School took part in a mission trip December 29th, 2017 through January 5, 2018 and traveled to Toppa Joppa Mountain, one of the poorest areas of the country, located in Appalachia approximately 30 minutes north of Knoxville, Tennessee. Students and their sponsors lived simply and helped the poor by repairing and building homes, working at a food pantry and assisting at a children’s center and nursing home.

Wednesday, Jan. 4, Emily-Lauren Neild of Beaumont received her wish from The Make-A-Wish Foundation. She was taken by limo to the Houston Ballet’s performance of “The Nutcracker” where, after the performance, she got to have a personal meet-and-greet with the cast.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit that arranges experiences described as “wishes” for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 4, Beaumont police responded to more than 30 auto burglaries in the city’s West End. In response, officers on the Midnight Patrol conducted numerous special attentions at apartment complexes and neighborhoods along Major Drive.

The Beaumont Police Department was notified Tuesday, Jan. 2 that a Beaumont teen missing since October 2017 has been found safe.

Police issued a murder warrant Dec. 29 for the arrest of 22-year-old Beaumont resident Desmond Roshan Bennett, the man they suspect of fatally shooting 20-year-old Anthony Green at a car wash on Washington Dec. 28.

Beaumont police arrested two suspects they believe burglarized American Bedroom on 11th Street Dec. 28, after finding one suspect inside the business and one in a vehicle in the parking lot while responding to the store's burglar alarm at about 2 a.m. that morning.
