‘The Accountant’

Starring: Ben Affleck, J.K. Simmons

Directed by: Gavin O’Connor

Rated: R

After being shopped all over Hollywood for years with different stars and directors attached, this was finally made with Ben Affleck and scheduled for release last year only to have it postponed, again. You’ll have to decide if it was worth the wait, but for the price of my ticket, it was well above the standard thriller.

Something I’ll never understand. For instance, who wrote the rule about rewarding movies no one gets to see unless you live in a “major city”? By the time Oscar night arrives, the general public is lucky to have seen about half the nominees. Andsomewhere it must be written that only the crummy movies can be released in early winter or late summer.

This adaptation from novel to screen is exactly what you would expect from the twisted thriller that captivated readers. This is largely due to author Gillian Flynn’s insistence that she be the one to write the script from her own bestseller.
