At the scene of a domestic disturbance, a troubled young woman was able to drive off in an unsecured police car and later crashed it on Highway 69, the Beaumont Police Department said in a press release Friday. She and an officer suffered minor injuries.

Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1100 block of Fulton on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at 1:31 p.m. Two officers arrived on scene at different times. The disturbance was between a mother and daughter. The daughter, a mentally ill 21-year-old, was off her medication and out of control, according to the BPD press release. 


Beaumont police say a 2-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 and later died.

According to a press release, the youngster was playing in his driveway in the 8100 block of Lawrence Drive when he ran down the driveway and into the street.

A Louisiana woman is dead and one man is in custody after police made the first arrest in an Aug. 20 murder at Knights Inn.

Police have arrested two men who they say robbed a small grocer Monday evening, Aug. 26. 

According to a BPD press release, officers responded to Mike's Drive-In at 680 Buford about 4:11 p.m. Monday night to find the clerk who told police he had just been robbed at gunpoint. 


A Beaumont man is dead and his motorcycle heavily damaged after striking a tree in Beaumont's North End. 

According to a BPD press release, police responded to the crash about 4:49 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 to find 53-year-old Perry Michael Herring with serious head injuries, having not worn a helmet at the time of the crash. 

The press release said Herring was traveling southbound on Pine Street from the river when his motorcycle left the road near Pine and Lasalle streets.

A Beaumont teen with what had seemed like a bright future pleaded guilty Monday, Aug. 12, to robbery and evading arrest after a home invasion led to a chase June 16.

Police say they’ve found at least two suspects responsible for one of the most deadly shootings in Beaumont’s recent history, and Beaumont’s police chief expects at least two other arrests.

Police say a series of break-ins Monday left one man in the hospital and at least two suspects on the run. 

On Monday, July 15, at about 8 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Threadneedle to find a man they later identified as 17-year-old Leonard Guillory climbing inside the house.
