Police in Beaumont are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred Jan. 13 at the Fun Time Game Club located at 1425 College St.

According to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded to the game room at about 7:15 p.m. in reference to a robbery in progress. When officers arrived, they were told that at least two black male suspects entered the business wearing all black and armed with handguns. The suspects demanded money from patrons and the business owner, witnesses described. After taking the money, the suspects fled the business on-foot.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 4, Beaumont police responded to more than 30 auto burglaries in the city’s West End. In response, officers on the Midnight Patrol conducted numerous special attentions at apartment complexes and neighborhoods along Major Drive.

Beaumont police found a shooting victim in the back parking lot of a car wash, according to a release.

On Thursday, Dec. 28, at about 12:47 p.m., Beaumont Police officers responded to 3025 Washington Boulevard in reference to shots fired, Officer Haley Morrow said.

Ky Lynn Brown

Ky Lynn Brown, 55, of Kountze, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.

Ky Brown was a lieutenant with the Beaumont Police Department. A32-year veteran of BPD serving on 3rd Watch Patrol, he was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Beaumont Police Department’s Cops & Kids Carnival, scheduled for Saturday, Aug 26, at the Beaumont Civic Center, has been canceled due to inclement weather. 

Wednesday, Aug. 23, the City of Beaumont said it is preparing for extended rain and flooding that may last for several days. The National Weather Service is monitoring Tropical Depression Harvey and suggested that people potentially in its path begin taking precautions against the threat of heavy rainfall.

Monday, July 24, Jefferson County Sheriff Zena Stephens was notified by the Beaumont Police Department that part-time Jefferson County Courthouse Security Officer Juan San Miguel was under investigation for sexual assault. It was planned that he would be placed on administrative leave without pay, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office, but San Miguel failed to show up for work Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28.

Beaumont’s Police Chief Jimmy Singletary swore four more officers into the department’s ranks during a ceremony at the downtown station June 9.

Assistant Chief Jim Clay opened the ceremony, thanking council members Virginia Jordan, Robin Mouton and Gethrel “Get” Williams-Wright for attending the swearing-in event and showing support for the new officers and their families.
