UPDATE: Following the federal charges filed against two brothers from Bridge City for the killing of a bottlenose dolphin in July 2014, 23-year-old Cory Moseley and 18-year-old Cade Moseley have each been sentenced to one year probation, a one-year ban on hunting and fishing, a $500 fine, 50 hours of community service, and $7,353.50 in restitution.

Two Bridge City, Texas brothers have pleaded guilty to federal wildlife violations, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales Feb. 18.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is still awaiting final autopsy findings and toxicology results, but, according to Chief Deputy Clint Hodgkinson, preliminary autopsy results indicate a physical altercation 34-year-old Jason Murray Smith of Kirbyville was involved in at the time he collapsed was not what caused his death.

One man was injured and another arrested as the result of a shooting in Orange County on Thursday, July 24, reports sheriff's deputies.

The historic Cow Bayou Bridge in Bridge City is closed as of Monday, March 17, until restoration is complete.

According to a news release from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), all traffic will be diverted to the taller Cow Bayou Bridge next to the historic bridge. North and southbound traffic will continue to flow on the taller bridge until the restoration of the historic bridge is complete, and no pedestrian traffic is permitted, according to the release.

Police say they have found the man responsible for the murder of Nicholas Rosen, 22, of Bridge City, after a drug deal turned deadly in northern Beaumont.

At the April 5 meeting of the Bridge City Council, Mayor Kirk Roccaforte announced the city will be foregoing elections this year, as all the candidates up for re-election are unopposed.

According to Bridge City attorney Paul Fukuda, Place 1 representative Kevin Mott, Place 3 representative Robert Simonton and Place 5 representative Richard Savoy were all uncontested in their bids for office, and the city election is thereby unnecessary.
