Thursday, April 19, at 12:09 a.m., Beaumont police responded to Luke’s Ice House at 2325 Calder in reference to a subject burglarizing a vehicle. When officers arrived, they located the suspect in the area of Calder and Fifth Street.

Effective Tuesday, Feb. 27, Old Calder Avenue at Phelan Boulevard to Pinchback Road will be partially closed to one-lane, two-way traffic. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic. This closure will facilitate Phase I of the resurfacing of Old Calder Avenue.  Phase I of this project will remain closed until further notice.

Phase II of this project will commence once Phase I is complete.  An updated Press Release will be provided upon commencement of Phase II. This project is expected to be completed by June 27, 2018.

Red Apple Day Care Learning Center on Calder Avenue

State officials have shut down the Red Apple Day Care Learning Center on Calder Avenue in Beaumont after Department of Family and Protective Services inspections noted 89 violations at the business since October 2014, including staff training inadequacies, lack of required immunizations of children in care and neglect.

First responders answering a report of a fence fire on Calder Avenue in Beaumont made a grisly discovery Feb. 24, reports the Beaumont Police Department. Firefighters and officers working to douse the blaze found the burned body of a deceased male, who reportedly lived behind some buildings in the 2300 block of Broadway Street.
