The body of a white male, later identified as 46-year-old Bobby Wayne Hodge, was found floating in the canal behind the Exxon Station at Washington and I-10 the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 29. 

A witness told the clerk at the gas station that there was a body floating in the canal,  a call was then placed and Beaumont Police and Fire responded to the scene. 

The body was removed from the water and it was noted that it appeared to have been in the water for an extended period of time. Detectives were then called to the scene.


Officers with the Groves Police Department investigating a report of a Groves resident firing a pellet gun toward houses in a local neighborhood resulted in the arrest of one man on drug charges related to methamphetamine allegedly discovered at his home.

A Port Arthur man is dead after the car he was driving went into the canal near the Memorial Boulevard and Highway 73 exit ramp.

Port Arthur police have identified the driver as Mikel Anderson, 26, of Port Arthur.

According to a PAPD press release, around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, PAPD officers, the Port Arthur Fire Department and EMS units responded to a 911 call of a car in the water near 4600 Memorial Blvd.
