The Symphony of Southeast Texas (SOST) is taking the magic of music to the next level by performing three very different concerts at three different locations within the next two weeks, giving everyone in Southeast Texas the opportunity to experience live orchestra music at its best.

“Our theme this season is ‘SOST Fantastique’ and we want to perform great and memorable music that everyone can enjoy at the Julie Rogers Theater and around the community,” said SOST Music Director Chelsea Tipton II.

The following is a press release from the Symphony of Southeast Texas:

Chelsea Tipton II isn’t your typical maestro.
“There aren’t many black conductors,” said the three-year conductor of the Symphony of Southeast Texas.
In a classical music industry dominated by Anglo-Saxon composers such as Mozart, Handel, and Bach, Tipton is breaking the mold and interpreting humankind’s most important musical masterpieces in a way everyone can appreciate.
“It’s hard to turn the music off,” he said. “There are historians who study the fabric of music and there are performers. I kind of fall in that (latter) category.”
