For over 70 years and under various names, the Shorkey Center has offered educational and therapeutic services for children with special needs.

This year marks their 25th annual holiday card campaign, which executive director Araina Daniels said is one of the organization’s largest fundraisers.

“Profits from our … sales are used to offset the cost of high quality therapy services [given] to deserving students who otherwise may not be able to afford it,” Daniels said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), in collaboration with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the Beaumont Health Department, Beaumont Animal Services and the Texas Department of Transportation, are hosting a Summer Safety Kickoff event on June 3 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The event will be held at the Beaumont Health Department, located at 3040 College St. in Beaumont.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the office has had reports of an older, heavyset, white male with a white beard who is driving a white van stopping children to tell them he has a sick puppy in the back of the van. The 2006 white van has a white rack on top with Ohio license plates. He has most recently been in the downtown Orange area on John Street and possibly the Mauriceville area.

Shortly after 2 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a structure fire at 1842 Washington Blvd.

On Thursday, December 3, 2015 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Beaumont police dispatchers received a 911 call of “someone shooting at Pathways Learning Center."  First officers arrived at 2:47 p.m. The caller called a second time at 2:52 p.m.
