Effective Sunday, Feb. 19, the Beaumont Animal Care Facility's (animal shelter) operating hours will change, Beaumont city manager's executive assistant Chris Jarmon announced Feb. 6.

Effective Friday, Feb. 3, at 7:00 am, Phelan Blvd will be closed from Keith Road to within 2600 feet of County Line Road, City of Beaumont administrative assistant Rosanna Mojica said in a release.

The City of Beaumont says residents' water is safe to drink in spite of an "alleged noncompliance" issue reported to the municipality by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on Jan. 20, Public Works Director Dr. Joseph Majdalani reports.

This year’s lineup for Jazz + Blues Festival may just be the most talented in the 11-year history of the event. Presented by the City of Beaumont and Kinsel Lincoln, the Jazz + Blues Festival will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. The festival is headlined by Muddy Magnolias, a powerful and soulful duo featuring Jessy Wilson and Kallie North. North is a Beaumont native and will be performing in Beaumont for the first time.

Gober Road will be closed at Concord Road effective Monday, Jan. 16 at 8 a.m., according to a statement from City of Beaumont administrative assistant Rosanna Mojica.

This closure will facilitate the placement of asphalt. Gober Road will remain closed until Friday, Jan. 20. Motorists should detour via Beaumont Drive to Picadilly, Garner Road, Haywood to Comstock or Helbig to Garner.

Effective Wednesday, Jan. 11 beginning at 8 a.m., Harrison Avenue from 14th Street to 15th Street will be closed to all traffic, City of Beaumont administrative assistant Rosanna Mojica reported Jan. 10 in a release.

Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, be aware of all signs, advance warnings including other signage, and travel with caution.

Haywood Drive from Concord Road to Ada Avenue in Beaumont is closed to through traffic starting Jan. 9 at 7 a.m. until noon on Jan. 11, the City of Beaumont reports.

Today, the City of Beaumont has partnered with SeeClickFix to announce a new mobile app called “Beaumont 311” that will allow citizens to report quality-of-life and non-emergency issues to the City, Chris Jarmon, executive assistant to the city manager, reported Jan 9. The app replaces GoRequest, which is the City’s current 311 mobile app.

The City of Beaumont is hosting its annual Fire Prevention and Family Safety Festival on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will be held at the Fire Museum of Texas at 400 Walnut St. in downtown Beaumont.
