Town Hall Meeting discusses Confederate flag memorial in Orange

A town hall meeting Saturday, March 23, at the American Legion Post 49 on Green Avenue was intended by organizers to be a meeting presenting both sides of the controversy over a proposed memorial that would display more than 20 Confederate flags including the infamous battle flag and would be visible from Interstate 10. It turned into a very one-sided affair, however, when no one from the organization Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) showed up to speak their piece.

Update: Judge throws out order to reinstate Orange cop

Visiting Judge Elizabeth Ray has thrown out an arbitrator’s ruling that instructed the city of Orange to reinstate ousted Orange Police Captain Robert Arnold, who was relieved of his civil service duties after fatally shooting an unarmed Marine veteran July 26, 2010.

Orange joins fight against rate increase

The Orange City Council officially denied CenterPoint Energy Resources Corp.’s request for a rate increase at its meeting Tuesday, Oct. 23. The council previously reviewed the ordinance for denial of the proposed increase at its Oct. 9 meeting and approved the measure unanimously Oct. 23.
