Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst and Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll invite the public to join them from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. for coffee at Whataburger on Main Street in Vidor Aug. 4. According to Kunst, the pair will be meeting at the fast food establishment "semi-regularly," so, "If you can't make this one, perhaps we will see you next time."

The Vidor Rocks Facebook group, which started in mid August 2016, now has 4,575 members. The Beaumont Rocks group began around the same time and has 224 members.

The City of Vidor is accepting applications for Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) grants for fiscal year 2016-17, and the Sept. 7 deadline for eligible businesses to apply is fast approaching.

According to Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst, HOT grants are basically meant to put “heads into beds” at local hotels.
