Classic Movie Night resumes with the 1999 documentary film Buena Vista Social Club on Tuesday, May 10 at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5. Beer, wine and other concessions will be available. The Jefferson Theatre is located at 345 Fannin.

A special Classic Movie Night will be held Thursday, April 28, with the showing of the 1984 rock musical drama Purple Rain, which stars the late Prince, who passed away April 21. Inspired by Prince’s album by the same title, Prince plays “The Kid,” a young musician tormented by an abusive situation at home who must contend with a rival singer, a burgeoning romance, and his own dissatisfied band as his star begins to rise. The film is 1 hour and 51 minutes and Rated R.

Classic Movie Night continues with the 2001 fantasy film Donnie Darko on Friday, March 18, at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Donnie Darko stars Jake Gyllenhaal, a troubled teen who see visions of a rabbit who tells him the world will soon end and manipulates him into doing crime. The film is 1:53 in length and Rated R. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Classic Movie Night continues with the 1995 comedy Clueless on Friday, March 4, at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Clueless stars Alicia Silverstone as Cher, a shallow, rich and popular high school socialite who decides to play matchmaker with two teachers and two of her friends. The movie also stars Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash and the late Brittany Murphy. Clueless also spun off a hit television series and several books.

Classic Movie Night continues with the 1952 musical comedy Singin’ in the Rain on Friday, Feb. 12, at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds, Singin’ in the Rain is ranked by the American Film Institute as the greatest musical movie of all time, and it was among the first 25 films chosen for preservation by the National Film Registry.

Classic Movie Night continues with the 1976 monster film King Kong on Friday, Feb. 5 at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont.

Directed by John Guillermin, this film is a remake of the 1933 classic starring Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin and Jessica Lange. An exploration for oil leads to an isolated island inhabited by a monster gorilla who is captured and taken to New York City for display.

Classic Movie Night continues with the 1969 landmark film Easy Rider on Friday, Jan. 29, at the historic Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont. Selected for preservation in 1998 in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, Easy Rider stars Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper as two young hippies who decided to travel cross-country on motorcycles and meet a cast of characters along the way. Written by Fonda, Hopper and Terry Southern, Easy Rider shook up the movie industry during the release year by grossing $19 million.
