UPDATE: Kelly Daws has been found guilty and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.  

A trial is underway for 47-year-old Kelly Daws, who allegedly conspired with her boyfriend, 48-year- old Joal Riley, to murder her estranged husband, ex- Port Arthur Police Officer Jerry Daws. This trial comes after Riley was sentenced to serve seven years for aggravated assault in May 2018, stemming from the stabbing of Officer Daws in December 2016.

A 40-year-old Houston man has been convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown Dec. 4.

John D. Leontaritis, owner and operator of Vanderhall Exotics of Houston, and former owner operator of Global Motorcars of Houston, car dealerships that specialize in exotic, luxury automobiles, was found guilty by a jury Dec. 4 following a six-day trial before U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone.

A 43-year-old Beaumont woman has been sentenced for her part in a conspiracy targeting federal inmates and their families in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown Oct. 12.

Tanya L. Richard pleaded guilty on June 14 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone. Richard was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $166,250.

Acting United States Attorney Brit Featherston announced Feb. 23 that four Southeast Texas men have been charged in a federal robbery conspiracy in the Eastern District of Texas.

According to complaints filed in federal court, Micah Ledell Johnson, 37, of Humble; Darrell Paul Williams, 36, of Beaumont; Gerrick Leon Wade, 36, of Houston; and Eric Ray Johnson, 36, of Houston, are alleged to be involved in a conspiracy to commit interference with commerce by robbery in Beaumont, Corpus Christi and the Houston metro area.
