With a violent rash of convenience store robberies plaguing Beaumont, business reps like Exxpress Mart/ Tri-Con operations manager Ron Nicklas say it’s imperative to the community’s safety that the bad actors committing these crimes be weeded out of the crowd.

“Our point of view is pretty straight forward,” Nicklas said. “It’s not like Beaumont is some sort of crime-ridden city. It’s not like there’s bands of thieves going from store to store stealing…”

The second suspect allegedly involved in a string of recent convenience store robberies has been taken into custody.

Detectives brought Shameca La’Shawn Pugh, a 37-year-old Beaumont woman, in for questioning Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Groves Police arrested two black males in connection with four aggravated robberies Thursday morning at two Groves convenience stores — Fast Lane, 3911 Highway 366 and B & B No. 2 at 3301 Cleveland. The men were confirmed by Groves Police Department Lt. Kirk Rice as Odis Sparks,25, and Ernest Lee Wilson, 30, both of Port Arthur.
