Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) are investigating a fatal accident in Japser County involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger car Nov. 13.

At approximately 7:25 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple-vehicle crash on US 96 in Jasper County. The crash occurred near Kirbyville Water Supply.

A vehicle driving against traffic caused a multi-vehicle crash on the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge in Orange County the morning of Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued a warning for drivers to use caution after a crash in Jasper County lead to a vehicle roll over.

According to a press release rom DPS, Preliminary reports indicate that a 2016 BMW passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on US-96.  Due to the inclement weather and wet road conditions, the driver lost control and traveled off the roadway.  The vehicle rolled over before coming to rest in a ditch.

A car seat checkup event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 228 Country Lane Drive, FM 421 in Lumberton. 

This is the first annual Car Seat Checkup Event to be held by the Lumberton Fire Department in accordance with the Hardin County Rotary Club, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS released a statement informing that I-10 westbound from FM 365 to Hamshire Rd. will be down to one lane of traffic nightly starting tonight and ending Thursday, Aug. 30 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for crews to place concrete barrier and work on striping. Expect possible delays.

A second multiple vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County near Gator Country Tuesday, Aug. 21.

According to a press release by the Department of Public Safety, initial reports indicate that a commercial motor vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 followed by a 2009 Suzuki passenger vehicle.  The driver of the Suzuki rear-ended the 18-wheeler.  After the impact, the Suzuki was engulfed in flames.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will start enforcement efforts across the state focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. Periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in June. According to a press release, one of those operations will take place in the Beaumont District throughout the day on Wednesday, June 20. The Department of Transportation will be participating in a non-enforcement capacity.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports a one vehicle rollover crash on FM 1005 in Jasper County Tuesday, Oct. 25 around 7:00p.m. The crash occurred approximately a half mile north of FM 252.

A 1998 Ford pickup truck was traveling westbound on FM 1005. For an unknown reason, the driver left the roadway. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest in the ditch.

The driver of the Ford, 58-year-old Marshall Glenn Cooper of Magnolia Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Mike Smith. Cooper was the only occupant in the vehicle.
