It’s July and tax season may be over, but that isn’t stopping scammers impersonating IRS agents from calling to collect whatever they can steal from unwitting victims, reports Detective Lisa Jardine of the Beaumont Police Department.

Jardine’s own family was recently the target of such a scam, but the longtime law enforcer didn’t fall prey to the confidence trick and instead had a little fun of her own.

Police report that warrants have been issued for the arrests of three individuals in connection to a series of storage facility burglaries in Beaumont. The wanted suspects face charges of engaging in organized criminal activity for allegedly conspiring to burglarize a total of 30 units impacting 21 victims.

The warrants come mere weeks after police obtained warrants for two other men they believe to be connected to a separate series of storage unit burglaries as reported in The Examiner on June 9.
