Dishman Art Museum

The Press Club of Southeast Texas invites members and students of all disciplines to the Dishman Art Museum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 12 for a free media mixer. The museum is located on the Lamar University Campus at 1030 East Lavaca St.

Meet members of the media from various outlets and learn more about radio, print and broadcast journalism from experienced professionals. Find out what happens behind-the-scenes from producers, camera operators and others who bring the news to homes all over Southeast Texas.


It’s a gala evening of art, fine dining, dancing and entertainment as Lamar University hosts the 42nd annual Le Grand Bal on Saturday, March 25. This year’s theme, “Lamar University in Black and White,” features a musical retrospective of LU through the decades. Guests are encouraged to dress in black and white. Activities include a silent art auction at the Dishman Art Museum, as well as a gourmet buffet, libations, music and dancing in the Montagne Center.


The Boomtown Film and Music Festival is celebrating it’s 10th year in Beaumont. Feb. 23-26, 2017, experience a diverse lineup of independent films from local, national and international filmmakers, as well as independent musicians that cross all genres.

Thursday, Feb. 23

Music at The LogOn Cafe (3805 Calder Ave., Beaumont) from 8 to after 11 p.m. with have five acts, including local artist Rob Wellz and indie/folk rockers The Cover Letter from Austin.


The Dishman Art Museum is currently exhibiting new work, including paintings, prints, drawings, photography, sculpture, ceramics and graphic design, from Lamar University’s art faculty.

‘Constructing Realities’ & ‘Fragmented Forms’

Senior thesis projects ranging from graphic design and photography to painting and textiles will be on display at Lamar University’s Dishman Art Museum from May 3 to 16. The reception for the student thesis art exhibition will be Friday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the exhibition and the reception is free.

This exhibition is the culmination of study for 12 seniors graduating this spring with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, and one graduate student completing her Master of Arts.

Lamar University’s Dishman Art Museum will host “Modern Impulses and Surreal Dreams: Contemporary Printmakers from Across the Nation” from Dec. 18 to Feb. 25. The exhibition highlights the work of more than 25 nationally recognized printmakers.
