District Attorney Bob Wortham has announced that May 2 a Jefferson County Jury convicted Samad Sefiane, 52 of Beaumont, of aggravated assault and sentenced him to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for attacking his roommate with a splitting maul, an instrument used to split wood.

After pleading guilty to robbery, Ryan Clayton, 34, of Beaumont was sentenced to 12 years in prison Oct. 17 in the 252nd Judicial District Court.

District Attorney Bob Wortham announced that a jury of the 252nd District Court found Carey Dexter Booker guilty of aggravated assault and sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

Randall Walker

Monday, Sept. 12, Randall Errol Walker, 42, pleaded guilty in a Jefferson County court on allegations of impersonating a public servant, according to a statement from the district attorney. In exchange for his guilty plea, Walker received 10 years in prison. He had previously been convicted of similar charges in 2007 and 2011.

Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham was the recipient of the Community Builder Award from the Beaumont Masonic Lodge No. 286, presented by members of the group Tuesday, July 12, at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

According to the award inscription, the honor went to Wortham because of his “distinguished service and personal contributions” to the community of Beaumont.

Raymond Patrick Johnson, a City of Port Arthur Water Department employee assigned to the Water Distribution Department, was formally charged by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office with one third-degree felony count of theft of metal by a public servant and subsequently arrested March 18.
