The month of October is nationally declared Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which was first observed in 1987, and it stands as a time to not only mourn domestic violence, but also actively combat it. Right now part of the battle is in the courts. When the grand jury issued indictments  last week, multiple cases of alleged domestic violence were among them. Antoine Joel Bohanon, Lashon Bourgeois and Daviun Julien were three of the individuals indicted in Jefferson County for three separate alleged incidents.
