Following an investigation by The Examiner and through the efforts of law enforcers from probation officers to prosecutors, a convicted counterfeiter and registered sex offender who molested an 11-year-old girl and who has failed multiple times to comply with sex offender registry rules has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for violating the terms of his felony probation.

A Vidor man has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter following a fatal June accident that claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman, reports Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

According to Davis, 36-year-old Blake Travis Bowen was arrested the morning of Oct. 26 following the issuance of an indictment against him for intoxication manslaughter in Orange County.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 22, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash on SH 105, near Old Sour Lake Road, in Hardin County.

26-year-old Anna Guadalupe Hernandez of Raywood has been identified as the driver of the Ford pickup truck involved in the fatal crash Oct. 22 on Smith Road in Jefferson County. Preliminary reports indicated that the 2001 Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Kidd Road, and for an unknown reason, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a culvert.  After striking the culvert, the vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest in the ditch.  The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The 28-year-old man who died in a single-vehicle accident Oct. 17 has been identified as Orlando Raul Ramos. Ramos was working at the Coast Guard office in Port Arthur, and, according to DPS, had identification on him that indicated a home address in Florida.

Fatal Wednesday morning accident on SH 73

At approximately 7 am on Oct. 17, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a single vehicle crash on SH 73 in Jefferson County. The crash occurred at Needmore Canal.

Initial reports indicate that a Nissan passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on SH 73. For an unknown reason, the driver of the vehicle struck the outside guardrail and lost control. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and came to rest in the canal.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, preliminary reports in the Oct. 16 accident indicate that a 2003 Buick passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on SH 73. Due to the wet road conditions, the vehicle hydroplaned and the driver lost control. The vehicle struck the inside guardrail, which disabled the vehicle in the roadway. A Chrysler 200 and a Toyota SUV were traveling westbound on SH 73 and stopped in the roadway to avoid colliding with the wrecked vehicle.

On Oct. 16, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported a multiple vehicle crash on SH 73 in Jefferson County.  The crash occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. near SH 87.

At the time, troopers stated that there were four vehicles involved in two separate crashes in the westbound traffic lanes of SH 73. Injuries had been reported, but the extent of those injuries had not been confirmed. Motorists were urged to use caution while traveling in the area and to stay alert for emergency vehicles and slow or stopped traffic.

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) are investigating an accident involving two motorcycles Sept. 24, reports Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

According to Davis, troopers responded to reports of a major accident on I-10 in Jefferson County near mile marker 834 at about 9 p.m.

After failing to verify information required for his sex offender registry and violating other terms of his probation, convicted counterfeiter and child molester Christopher Shaun Drucker, 37, of Orange, was arrested Sept. 12 following investigations by The Examiner, the Orange Police Department, the Pinehurst Police Department and the Orange County Probation Office.
