Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office seized marijuana, pot plants and firearms during an investigation Jan. 23, reportedly resulting in drug and weapon charges against an area teen, reports Deputy Marcus McLellan.

U.S. Attorney John Malcolm Bales announced May 9 that 11 Jefferson County men are in custody following a lengthy investigation into drug trafficking involving the distribution of crack cocaine in the Eastern District of Texas.

According to a news release from the U.S Attorney's office, a combined task force of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies began executing federal arrest warrants on May 6 for defendants indicted following a ten-month investigation into the distribution of crack cocaine in Beaumont.

Citizens who witnessed a deputy pursuing a suspects attempting to flee the scene of an accident subsequent to a car chase in Jefferson County assisted the officer in detaining one of the men over the weekend, on Feb. 28.
