Free photo shoot for veterans

While taking in the festivities that celebrate the contribution of American veterans, those who have served in any branch of the military are invited to commemorate the occasion with a professional photo shoot with YellowBrickByB at Lions Club Veteran Memorial Park, 195 W. Bolivar St. in Vidor.

YellowBrickByB owner and photographer Brittani Stanley said the free public event will be held at the park from 7 a.m. until sunset.

Feast with the Beasts at the Houston Zoo on Nov 3

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will perform at the Houston Zoo’s 12th annual Feast with the Beasts on Friday, Nov. 3. From 7-11 p.m., the evening promises to be an unforgettable night where attendees can eat, drink and jam out to some of the band’s biggest hits all while enjoying the animals at the zoo.

Feast with the Beasts is one of the Houston’s most anticipated events for animal and culinary lovers alike. Guests can sample food and drinks from more than 60 of Houston’s hottest restaurants as well as special animal presentations throughout the zoo.

The Elmo Willard Branch Library will offer white pumpkins for the community to come to the library and place graffiti on them from Oct. 23-38.

No Man’s Land: East Texas African Americans in World War I is a multimedia traveling exhibition which draws attention to the experiences of East Texas African Americans in the First World War, opening at Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur on Sept. 23.

After it was printed, many of the events in the Entertainment section of this week’s Examiner have been canceled and, in some cases, rescheduled due to the heavy rain and thunderstorms expected in the area Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-4.

The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce has postponed its Christmas Light Parade until Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. 

The Kiwanis Club has announced that the annual Orange Christmas Parade scheduled for Friday, has been postponed to Friday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m.

I spy ... Friends of the Triangle AIDS Network will host "Paint the Town Red: Shaken, Not Stirred" on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Beaumont Country Club. The gala - featuring art, auctions, entertainment, dancing and fine dining - is the major annual fundraiser to benefit TAN. This year, an "Evening of International Intrigue" will play homage to James Bond and other famed spies, sleuths and secret agents. Festivities begin with a champagne reception, hors d'oeuvres and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. The live auction begins at 7:15 p.m.
