Police in Nederland are searching for a shooting victim's estranged boyfriend, identified by Chief Gary Porter as 48-year-old David Whittington Jr.

A woman was found allegedly shot by her boyfriend shortly after midnight Thursday, Dec. 6, in the 2400 block of Julian Drive, according to a statement from Port Arthur Police.

On Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, the Jefferson County grand jurors returned indictments against numerous individuals for alleged crimes that took place in the presence of a child.

Damon Winters, a 40-year-old Beaumont man, allegedly shot his stepson the early morning of Friday, Oct. 26. According to Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow, at 1:29 a.m. Beaumont Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Woodrow in reference to a victim of a shooting. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Winters and his 20-year-old stepson had a verbal altercation that turned physical, resulting in Winters shooting his stepson. Winters spoke with Detectives before being placed under arrest for aggravated assault- family violence.

Beaumont Police Family Violence Unit responded to a shooting at 5:07 p.m. on Oct. 13, in the 6800 block of Broadleaf. The caller said a 19-year-old Beaumont man shot his 20-year-old brother and then shot himself. Both males were transported to the hospital.

Witnesses told officers the victim and his brother were sitting in a car with another person, and the brothers were arguing with one another. The 19-year-old man shot his brother and then shot himself.

At 1:34 p.m. on Oct. 12, officers responded to the 700 block of San Jacinto in reference to a female that called and said she had just been shot. Upon arrival, witnesses told officers the victim and suspect were still in the residence.

A man once facing charges for allegedly holding a woman hostage, torturing her and raping her repeatedly for five weeks has now been indicted on first-degree felony charges amid accusations that he beat up a 21-year-old autistic man before attacking the victim with a sword.

Police are investigating the shooting death of a 46-year-old Vidor man after a family dispute allegedly erupted in violence on July 4, reports Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll. 

According to Carroll, police dispatch received a call at 8:17 p.m. that night in reference to a shooting in the 100 block of Carla Street in Vidor. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, identified by police as Gregory Paul Goldsmith, being treated by medics from Acadian Ambulance Service. The medics were unable to revive Goldsmith and declared him deceased at the scene.

Police in Port Arthur are investigating a violent altercation during which a woman reportedly slashed her common law husband across the face with a knife, reports the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) Sgt. Shawn Perron.

Police in Orange are investigating a stabbing that resulted in injuries to a city resident Oct 26.

According to a news release from the Orange Police Department, officers, along with the Orange Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance, responded to the 1000 block of Ruby Lane at 12:46 a.m. in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a 25-year-old male victim, with apparent stab wounds to his arms and one leg, seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of his wounds.
