After sentencing former West Orange-Stark Assistant Coach Carl Broussard, 54, to 10 years probation Monday, May 15, for charges related to a fatal car accident that claimed the lives of a young mother and her 6-year-old daughter, Judge Buddie Hahn has now ordered Broussard to spend 180 days in the Orange County Jail up front.

Broussard pleaded guilty earlier this year to two counts of failure to stop and render aid after fatally striking 25-year-old Ava Nicole Lewis and her daughter Lamya Janise Newhouse with his vehicle on Nov. 2, 2015.


One person is dead as a result of a crash in Hardin County Tuesday, Sept. 30, which also caused road closures for three hours at the site of the accident.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis, at approximately 2:30 p.m., there was a two vehicle crash at the intersection of FM 418 and FM 1122 in Hardin County.


A Louisiana man is dead after the riding lawnmower he was driving was struck by a pickup truck on the service road of Highway 69 North in Beaumont.

Saturday, March 29, at about 8:12 p.m., Beaumont police responded to a report of a major crash on the northbound service road of the 8300 block of Eastex Freeway.
