Police have arrested a suspect in the Nov. 10 attempted robbery of Third Coast Bank on Dowlen Road in Beaumont. Beaumont resident James Richard Newton, 46, was taken into custody Nov. 12 at the Best Western Casino in Vinton, Louisiana after deputies located his vehicle in the parking lot of the casino.

HOUSTON—The owner and operator of Elite P Care Medical Services has been convicted of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and health care fraud in a $1 million fraud scheme, announced United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson. Verona Spicer, 46, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Kenneth Hoyt.

One of the FBI Houston Division’s latest campaigns, which was discussed at the FBI Beaumont office open house Thursday, Jan. 22, is the use of digital billboards in both Houston and Beaumont to identify wanted criminals.

The Examiner had the unique and exciting opportunity Friday, Oct. 17, to visit the Federal Bureau of Investigation Houston Division office and speak to new Special Agent in Charge Perrye K. Turner. FBI Director James B. Comey named Turner SAC of the Houston Division in July. The Houston field office covers 40 counties and includes five satellite offices, known as resident agencies; Beaumont is one of them.

A Pakistani man has been indicted in the Eastern District of Virginia for allegedly conspiring to advertise and sell StealthGenie, a spyware application (app) that could monitor calls, texts, videos and other communications on mobile phones without detection.  This marks the first-ever criminal case concerning the advertisement and sale of a mobile device spyware app.
