Acting U.S. Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook announced that a Logansport man pleaded guilty on April 6 to distributing methamphetamine in Many, Louisiana, and kidnapping a victim in east Texas, according to a statement from the United States Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Louisiana.

A missing Lumberton teen presumed to have run away from home was found safe in Jasper over the weekend, reports Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins.

Police, Texas Rangers and FBI agents searched for missing 14-year-old Alyssa Puffer for more than a week before catching up to her at a residence in Jasper. Her family told police she had last been seen March 22 and had not returned since then. Now, police report, the teen is back at home with her family in Lumberton.

On Feb. 16 around 7:15 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) deputies participated in a joint drug checkpoint operation with the Beaumont Police Department, DEA, ATF and FBI on I-10 near Hwy 365, JCSO Capt. Crystal Holmes reported Feb. 17.

A suspect wanted in an Austin murder is the lasted addition to the FBI’s list of “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives,” the FBI announced in a press release Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Fugitive Robert Van Wisse is being sought for his alleged involvement in the attack and murder of a young woman on Sept. 20, 1983. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

The former director of Baseball Development for the St. Louis Cardinals made an initial appearance in Houston federal court Friday, Jan. 8,  on charges of accessing the Houston Astros’ computers without authorization, announced U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson and Special Agent in Charge Perrye K. Turner of the FBI. Friday afternoon, the former Cardinals official entered a guilty plea to all counts as charged.

Police have arrested a suspect in the Nov. 10 attempted robbery of Third Coast Bank on Dowlen Road in Beaumont. Beaumont resident James Richard Newton, 46, was taken into custody Nov. 12 at the Best Western Casino in Vinton, Louisiana after deputies located his vehicle in the parking lot of the casino.
