Wednesday, Oct. 26, about 8:30 am, Beaumont Police responded to the parking lot of Home Depot at 3910 Eastex Freeway in reference to a theft.

The officer completed a report for theft of copper wiring from the back of vehicle in the parking lot. A witness came forward and gave the license plate of the suspect vehicle. Officers located the suspect, Jerome David James, a 58-year-old Beaumont man, in the 1100 block of Cottonwood, but James fled the area on foot. A short time later, James was apprehended near Live Oak and Grand.

Police in Orange responding to an alarm at Cecil Atkission Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Orange thwarted an attempt to steal a GMC Yukon and other items from the car lot on Sept. 11, reports the Orange Police Department (OPD).

Two men in a stolen U-Haul knocked over an ATM at DuGood Credit Union in Beaumont Aug. 1, but couldn’t cash in because they couldn’t get the cash out of the machine, reports the Beaumont Police Department. One of the men is in custody, and police are searching for his accomplice.

For the second time in the span of a week, a citizen has assisted officers in the capture of suspects fleeing from the scene of a crime in Orange County.

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office has dismissed a case against former BISD warehouse supervisor Daryl Johnson, who was fired in May 2012 under suspicion of theft and subsequently indicted on two counts of felony theft. The indictment alleged Johnson stole approximately $280,000.

Thursday, May 22, 2014, around 7:20 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a stolen travel trailer from the 3100 block of Texas Avenue near the Bridge City area of Orange County. The travel trailer had been parked on the previous date near a business that had video surveillance.

After a vehicle pursuit and a foot chase, police arrested a man suspected of breaking into cars in the 2200 block of Broadway Street in Beaumont on Feb. 25 at about 3:25 a.m.
