Beaumont Fire Rescue has deployed members of its Wildland Firefighting Team to the Bastrop area to assist the Texas Forest Service on the wildland fires there. Three firefighters left the afternoon of Oct. 14 with the wildland fire truck to be a part of a strike team once they arrive. They may be deployed for a period of 10 to 14 days before being released.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, DPS troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 90 and Turner Road in China, Texas. Three people were transported to St. Elizabeth hospital.

On Sunday, September 27, 2015, in the wee hours of the morning, Beaumont firefighters were dispatched to two separate fires that may have been related.

At 3:41 a.m., the Beaumont Fire Department received a report of a building on fire at 410 Winfield. While at this location, fire dispatchers received a 911 call reporting another fire at 1208 Gilbert. Other units were dispatched to this location and were able to bring the flames under control within a few minutes.

Investigators with the Orange Police and Fire Departments are investigating a Sept. 20 fire at a vacant residence on Decatur Avenue that they believe was the result of arson, OPD Captain Cliff Hargrave reports.

Beaumont firefighters doused the flames from a grease fire at a local apartment complex, but not before smoke from the blaze displaced some residents, reports Beaumont Fire-Rescue Capt. Earl White.

A Beaumont residence sustained heavy fire damage Monday afternoon from a blaze caused by a pot left on a burning stove.

Another Beaumont firefighter was taken to a Beaumont emergency room for treatment of a heat-related illness as the result of battling a blaze at a Beaumont residential structure on Aug. 11, Beaumont Fire-Rescue reports. That makes the third time a Beaumont firefighter has been taken to the emergency room for heat-related illness within a week's time.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a structure fire at 1676 Pauline. When firefighters arrived, they found flames visible in one room of the home. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and contain the fire to the front portion of the house. No one was home when firefighters arrived, and there were no injuries to firefighters. The cause of the fire has been determined to be deliberate, and a suspect has been identified. The investigation is continuing at this time.

Investigators looking into a blaze at a local apartment believe a child playing with a cigarette lighter was the likely culprit responsible for initiating the fire.

Beaumont firefighters were dispatched to a reported apartment fire in the 900 block of Florida Avenue at approximately 3:40 p.m. on May 9, reports Beaumont Fire-Rescue. When they arrived, they discovered a bedroom on fire in the upstairs apartment. According to a news release, firefighters were quickly able to extinguish the fire.

An unattended pot on a stovetop of a local apartment is believed to be responsible for a fire at the residence on May 8, Beaumont Fire-Rescue reports.

According to a news release from Beaumont Fire-Rescue, at approximately 11:34 a.m., units responded to a reported structure fire in the 4900 block of Highland Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they found an apartment building with heavy smoke coming from one apartment. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and confine the fire to the kitchen of the single apartment.
