The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) authorized more than $27.7 million in flood mitigation assistance grants, including $4,108,561 for elevation projects in Bevil Oaks. That’s more money than was devoted to any other single project.

The city of Orange will receive $244,696 for acquisition projects, and Hardin County will get $2,721,501.96 for acquisition projects.

The Beaumont Public Schools Foundation (BPSF) grant caravan stopped at seven Beaumont Independent School District campuses Dec. 1 to make teachers’ and students’ wishes come true with hands-on educational tools that inspire creative learning in the classroom.

Members and friends of the foundation rode out with the BPSF Grant Caravan bus Friday to drop off the learning tools requested, and to present winning educators with glass apples in recognition of their dedication to academic excellence.

The Beaumont Foundation of America (BFA) recently presented the first of two $64,000 grants to Buckner International to provide new clothing for children the ministry serves through foster care across Texas.

The grants are expected to help about 850 foster children who have been removed from their biological parents’ care as a result of abuse or neglect. Often when children are removed from care, they leave most of their belongings behind, including their clothing.

Little Cypress Elementary received two grants from International Paper’s IP Giving Foundation last week. The first is for a refill kit for expendable materials used in the second grade’s Saxon Phonics program, worth $4,374.92.

The Beaumont Public Schools Foundation (BPSF) distributed nearly $13,000 in grant items to students and staff of the Beaumont Independent School District (BISD) for innovative classroom projects during the 2016 Fall Grant Caravan on Dec. 2. The foundation and friends visited nine campuses and the BISD Police Department, awarding 12 grants to 11 staff and a group of five students.
