Harvey recovery

The City of Port Arthur has begun the process of bringing home Port Arthur residents who were evacuated to other regions in Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the city announced Sept. 18, with residents arriving at the Bob Bowers Civic Center shelter location.

But it seems that wasn’t always the plan.

A 31 year old Galveston man died of flesh-eating bacteria Oct. 16, Galveston County Health District (GCHD) has confirmed. This is the only known case of necrotizing fasciitis in Galveston County related to Hurricane Harvey, officials said.

The day after the city of Beaumont lost water, 18-wheelers loaded full of water began arriving at Beaumont’s First Baptist Church.

This was part of the relief stage of the church’s efforts.
