Second annual Pancakes with Santa spreads holiday cheer

Dec. 9, Christus Health and Wellness Center (HWC) spread the holiday cheer during its second annual Pancakes with Santa event where 20 area kids had the chance to share their Christmas wishes with Santa, sit down with their special visitor from the North Pole and enjoy a breakfast of custom-topped pancake creations, make holiday keepsakes and swim at the center’s indoor pool.

L'Auberge chefs use 160 lbs. of gingerbread in elaborate project

Elaborate gingerbread project at L'Auberge

L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles celebrates the holiday season with an elaborate gingerbread house designed by its award winning pastry team. Pastry Chef Bill Foltz and his team of elves designed and constructed the sugary sculpture after months of planning and sevens days of preparation and assembly. It is now on display at the casino entrance in front of Ember Grille & Wine Bar.

Recycling to renew in Beaumont

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School seventh grade student Desmond Williams

During a council meeting Aug. 23, the Beaumont City Council voted unanimously to renew recycling in the city.

Waste Management recently pulled its recycling service from Beaumont due to its high cost and the limited interest in subscriptions. The move impacted over 500 Beaumont residences.

RC Miller Library to host Sounds of Sharing Nov. 10

The R.C. Miller Library will host the “Sounds of Sharing” Tuesday, November 10, 2015 to celebrate the upcoming holiday season. Along with light refreshments, there will be musical performances by Lamar University professors Dr. Charlotte Mizener (harpist) and Dr. Gary Mizener (clarinetist). The two will be accompanied by Jennifer Shannon (flautist), Barbara Smith (harpist) and Rachel Clark (harpist).
