A 21-year-old Houston woman has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston announced Oct. 19.

A young man who lost control of his vehicle and then exited it while stopped on the interstate was killed when he was struck by another vehicle traveling eastbound on I-10 Aug. 26, reports the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

On August 16 at about 2:00 a.m., a Chambers County deputy observed a motorcycle operated in an unsafe manner, westbound on I-10 near FM 3180 in Chambers County, Sheriff Brian C. Hawthorne said in a release.

Update: On August 14, at about 10:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a multiple vehicle crash on I-10 in Jefferson County, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release. The crash occurred near the Hamshire Road exit.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2000 Lexus passenger vehicle was stopped in the outside traffic lane of I-10 Eastbound. The driver of a 2012 Volvo truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling eastbound on the Interstate and did not see the stopped vehicle in the roadway.

A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted Shylaih Prescott, 20, on allegations of forgery and intent to defraud and harm after it was reported that she used cinematic prop money to purchase a 4-wheeler through the online marketplace app Offer Up.

Beaumont police have been warning local businesses about customers trying to make purchases with “movie money,” typically $100 bills, since late February, as previously reported by The Examiner.

Tuesday, July 12, at about 7:45 p.m., Beaumont officers on I-10 near mile marker 838 stopped a white 2015 Jeep Latitude with Florida plates for a traffic violation, Officer Carol Riley said in a release. A K-9 officer and his partner Sugar assisted with the stop.

A small, user amount of suspected powder cocaine and methamphetamine were located inside the vehicle. A further search of the vehicle revealed that three kilos of suspected powder cocaine were hidden inside the front driver and passenger doors.
