A Beaumont man was struck and killed while changing a flat tire Jan. 24, reports the Beaumont Police Department. 

According to a news release from BPD, 25-year-old Clifton Meadows died when he was struck by a car driven by 27-year-old Kendrick McCloney. Meadows was reportedly checking on a flat in the 300 block of I-10 westbound at approximately 10:02 p.m. McCloney was traveling westbound and changed lanes, striking Meadows.

UPDATE: A jury of seven men and five women in Judge John Stevens' court today sentenced Rockline George Kennedy, 65, to 18 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the Jan. 26 intoxication manslaughter of 18-year-old Nederland High School student Kristin Paris.

Paris's family addressed Kennedy directly at the sentencing. Her father said, "I think you are the biggest piece of s**t I have ever met in my life, and I hope you die."

A Nederland man is facing intoxication manslaughter charges related to an April 10 accident that resulted in the death of a 25-year-old Houston man.


A two-vehicle accident in Orange cost one man his life and another his freedom, reports the Orange Police Department.

According to a news release from OPD, on March 8 at 4:41 a.m., City of Orange Police Officers were dispatched to Highway 87 and M. L. King Drive in reference to a traffic crash. Officers arrived at the scene to discover one person deceased. The deceased man was identified as Bret Allen Gentzler, an Orange County resident.

Beaumont police responded to a two-vehicle crash at about 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, on Interstate 10 near Ford Park.

Traffic Unit investigators with the Beaumont Police Department have identified the victim from the fatal crash that occurred Thursday night, Jan. 9, 2014, at the intersection of North 11th and Long Street as Alexis Kiaria Neal, a 22-year-old resident of Buna. In a press release, BPD said police have notified her next of kin.
