Jack Brooks Regional Airport will be unveiling three new paintings on Thursday, October 27 at 10 a.m.
The new murals feature “homegrown luminaries Janis Joplin, George Jones, Bubba Smith, Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Tex Ritter and Bum Phillips,” according to a release from the City of Beaumont.
Beaumont artist Summer Lydick was commissioned to create large portraits of Southeast Texas’ famous locals. Lydick has been working on the project over the last several months. The paintings will be showcased along the walls of the terminal, “greeting travelers with a special local flair.”
