At approximately 9:23 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division were conducting a follow-up investigation at the Stone Hurst Apartments at 1650 E. Lucas in Beaumont. The deputies were investigating a recent home invasion robbery that took place in Nome, Texas.

Three suspects reportedly invaded a Jefferson County residence, attacking and robbing an elderly woman there on Friday, May 16.

One person is dead as the result of a two-vehicle accident this morning, Trooper Stephanie Davis reports.

According to a news release from DPS, troopers were dispatched to West Port Arthur Road at South Garden Road in Jefferson County at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and more information will be released as it becomes available, Trooper Davis reports.

UPDATE: At about 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, acting on a Crime Stoppers Tip, fugitive task force members located and arrested Cody Lewis in Pennington, Texas, about 157 miles northeast of Beaumont just off U.S. 287.

Two of three men wanted in relation to a murder investigation in Jefferson County are in custody as of April 7, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies report, and the search is on for the third man, 27-year-old Cody Jamar Lewis of Beaumont, who should be considered armed and dangerous. The murder investigation was initiated as the result of a body discovered on South China Road in China on Saturday morning, April 5.

The Jefferson County Sheriff is asking the public's help in locating a probationer with a warrant out for his arrest. 

In a press release, the Sheriff's office said Derek Lee Wiliams, 27, is wanted on a motion to revoke his probation for felony burglary and theft of a firearm. 

"Mr. Williams is also wanted for questioning in several recent crimes," Deputy Rod Carroll said in the press release.

After the 2:30 p.m. National Weather Service call Tuesday, Jan. 28, Jefferson County made the decision to reopen all its offices at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29. If conditions do not improve enough Wednesday morning for roads to properly clear, then that 1 p.m. opening could change, the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security said in a press release.

In a short ceremony in the presence of family and friends, Cory Crenshaw was sworn in as Jefferson County's newest district attorney after the office was vacated late last year. 

The news came Monday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2014, and soon thereafter, Crenshaw was sworn in, with the oath of office administered by Criminal District Court Judge John Stevens. 

Crenshaw was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas under John M. Bales before being appointed as Jefferson County's interim district attorney.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has been alerted to a new scam that is active in our area. In this scam, a resident received a call from an individual that was claiming to be employed by the Jefferson County Fraud Department. The caller ID showed the name of Jefferson County Courthouse. This can be done by what is termed spoofing by utilizing an electronic device or website with Voice Over IP (VOIP). The caller requested personal information from the resident as part of an investigation.
