Wednesday, March 21, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office released the indictment handed up by a grand jury March 15 alleging Beaumont Independent School District special education teacher Alisa Boutte committed third-degree felony theft by taking money from the parents of students at Central High School while acting in an official capacity.

The Jefferson County Narcotics Taskforce, with the assistance of the United States Postal Inspector, conducted an controlled delivery operation March 22 that uncovered a large quantity of mail order drugs and arrested a Port Neches woman during the sting, reports the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

According to JCSO, investigators identified a package they believed contained synthetic drugs that was to be delivered to a residence in Port Neches. Investigators tested the contents of the package, and they tested positive for the chemicals used in the synthetic drugs.

Police in Conroe arrested a man suspected in several airplane burglaries, including thefts from multiple aircraft at the Southeast Texas Regional Airport, reports the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).

According to a news release from JCSO, an airplane sitting on the tarmac at the Southeast Texas Regional Airport was broken into on Saturday, March 11.  The suspect then broke into a hangar and burglarized several planes and a vehicle inside the hangar. Evidence discovered at the scene assisted in locating the suspect, JCSO stated in the news release.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Beaumont man March 13 who is a suspect in multiple burglaries, and recovered 15 grams of methamphetamine during the subsequent investigation, reports Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Captain Crystal Holmes.

According to a news release from Holmes, at about 2:30 p.m., deputies stopped a black Mitsubishi matching the description of a vehicle involved in several Beaumont burglaries highlighted on Crimestoppers.

A Beaumont woman was indicted for deadly conduct by a Jefferson County grand jury March 8 for allegedly firing a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson multiple times toward her ex-husband who, she told an officer, had "screwed her out of so much," according to a probable cause affidavit for her arrest. Lois Gayle Fontenot, 65, faces third-degree felony charges for the Feb. 7 incident, which she reportedly called "a crazy moment."

Update: At 5:45 p.m. The Texas Department of Public Safety announced that they have identified the deceased victim involved in the motor vehicle crash that occurred earlier on West Port Arthur Road as 49-year-old Martha Dianne Katan of Port Arthur.
