Kelly High School

More than 430 Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School students, 100 faculty members and 40 parents volunteered helping hands to more than 35 local charities and nonprofit organizations during Kelly Springs Into Action Day on Friday, April 15.

Kelly High School, established in 1895, is a diocesan, coeducational high school in Beaumont that, according to its mission statement, offers “cultural diversity, spiritual and personal development, and a strong college preparation in a loving and nurturing environment.”

Kelly High School’s Youth-Leadership Southeast Texas (Y-LSET) Team has partnered with Leadership Southeast Texas and West Brook High School’s Y-LSET Team to collect used bicycles for veterans. The program was designed to fulfill military veterans’ requests for bicycles to help them seek and maintain employment. All donations will benefit Jefferson County veterans and their families.

The Jefferson County Young Lawyer’s Association hosted the 36th annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Jefferson County Courthouse. After two rounds, the top two teams competed in a final trial to see who would be going to state.

The Kelly Bulldogs boys’ golf team finished fourth at the TAPPS Regional Tournament on April 15 at the Gleannloch Pines Golf Club in Spring. With the finish, the team will play in the TAPPS State Golf Tournament on April 28-29 at Wildflower Country Club in Temple.

Southeast Texas Citizen Bee contestants

Kelly High School seniors Lauren Powers and Thomas Cobb participated in the Southeast Texas Citizen Bee at Lamar State College-Port Arthur Thursday evening, March 6. Powers was awarded Honorable Mention and Cobb won first place!  Cobb will represent Region 5 at the State Citizen Bee Contest in Austin on April 26.  Congratulations to them both!
