When Cardinal football was reintroduced in 2010, there was an excitement on campus that hadn’t been felt in a long time. It was a welcome return following two decades without a sport that Southeast Texans eat, sleep and breathe. Now that Big Red pride is back in full force, Lamar University reintroduces another tradition dating back more than half a century — the Homecoming Parade.

Kenneth R. Evans was invested as Lamar University’s 15th president on Thursday, Nov. 7, calling on students and faculty in his inaugural address to recognize the strengths of the university’s heritage while also seeking to invent a promising new future.

Lamar University is scheduled to confer 750 degrees at the summer commencement Saturday, August 17, in the Montagne Center. Lamar University's 15th president, Kenneth Evans, will be the keynote speaker.  The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. for the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, Education and Human Development, Fine Arts and Communication and the Center for General Studies.

The Board of Regents of the Texas State University System has unanimously approved the appointment of Kenneth R. Evans, Ph.D., as president of Lamar University. Regents voted on Dr. Evans’ appointment during a special called meeting of the board today.
