Kera Teel

When pregnant mother Kera Teel was shot and killed in June, the Southeast Texas community was stunned and police relentlessly pursued numerous leads in an attempt to identify and apprehend the perpetrators who fled the scene following the abhorrent act.

Andrew, Kera and Alaya Teel

Thursday, July 6, the family of murder victims Kera and Kyndal Teel are entering into litigation against the apartment complex where the mother and her yet-unborn daughter fell victim to a gunman’s bullets.

Surviving family, Kera’s husband Andrew, and the couple’s daughter Alaya, are among the plaintiffs alleging owners of Beaumont’s Sienna Apartment Homes failed to maintain adequate security measures that could have deterred or prevented the death.

Beaumont police have a woman in custody for several aggravated robberies they say are linked to the murder of Kera Teel and her unborn daughter, Kyndal.

Update: By June 10, donations to Crime Stoppers increased the reward for information leading to arrest in the capital murder of Kera Teel to $14,500.

The reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible for the capital murder of Kera Teel, a 19-year-old pregnant mother who was shot to death June 6, has been increased to $10,000 after local businesses and concerned citizens donated monies to increase the amount in order to encourage members of the public to come forward if they know anything.

Police in Beaumont are searching for the driver of a truck they believe could lead to answers in the unsolved capital murder of Kera Teel and her daughter Kyndal, reports Beaumont Police Department Officer Haley Morrow.

According to Morrow, a white truck was recorded by the police dash cam of an officer responding to the June 6 shooting at 6155 Sienna Trails in the Sienna Trails Apartments.

Police looking for vehicle seen in vicinity

"At about 1:45 this morning, my wife died in my arms,” Andrew Teel said, red-rimmed eyes glistening in the harsh lights from the television cameras surrounding him as he described 19-year-old Kera Teel’s final moments during a press conference June 6. “I don’t know if any of you have ever experienced anything like that. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”
