Marcus Johnson and Julianna Poyotte, representatives from Gexa Energy, visited Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School on March 20 to present a $1,000 scholarship to senior, Makayla Dyer, according to a press release from LCM CISD Community Relations Coordinator Sherry Combs.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School’s Team Force came ready to play March 8, as they held their annual basketball game against the Nederland Dynamo Dogs, LCM CISD Community Relations Specialist Sherry Combs said in a release. 

Having lost the last three years, the team was determined to bring home the trophy, and that they did with a 28 to 20 victory against the Dogs. Fellow classmates cheered the team on and the encouragement, determination and coaching from some of the varsity basketball team, carried the day. Dr. Jim Armstrong officiated the game.

The campus finals of the Stark Contest in Reading and Declamation were held at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School on Sunday, Feb. 26, with seniors Connor Alexander and Kaylee Pattillo claiming first places in Declamation and Reading, respectively, LCM CISD Community Relations Coordinator Sherry Combs said in a release on March 1.
