Jefferson Theater

The historic Jefferson Theatre has been a mecca of entertainment since its inception in 1927 when noted architect Emile Weil designed the building for Jefferson Amusement Company by the tune of $1 million.

The Jefferson has hosted all the stars who have come to Beaumont including James Stewart for the movie premier of It’s a Wonderful Life, along with director Frank Capra, in 1946.

You have to have heart … The American Heart Association hosted its annual Go Red for Women Luncheon recently at the Beaumont Event Centre. The luncheon raises funds for cardiovascular disease and stroke research, awareness and education. This year’s honoree was Pamela St. Amand of Legacy Community Health. Jill Grounds of Cardiac Consultants was the keynote speaker and spoke on the risks of cardiovascular disease for women.

The NRF Queen and her court … Queen Neches LXX Jordin Bourg, daughter of Vonnie and Eric Bourg and a senior at West Brook High Schol, was crowned queen Saturday evening, April 14, at the Julie Rogers Theatre in Beaumont.

Applause, applause … for our fabulous Betty Greenberg! The amazing lady who chaired and orchestrated so many fundraisers in this wonderful city was honored Friday evening, March 23, at the Betty Greenberg Performing Arts Center on her 90th b-day. Friends and family members enjoyed delightful bites, cocktails and conversation catch-up at the beginning of the evening.

Luncheon of love … Recently the Alzheimer’s Association hosted the 2018 Family Portrait Luncheon at the MCM Eleganté to a sold-out crowd. Elizabeth Waddill and Ashley Messina co-chaired this uplifting event. When this dynamic duo was asked to lead the charge for this year’s fundraiser, they wanted Mark K. Shriver, president of the Save the Children Action Network and senior vice president of U.S. Programs at Save the Children, as well as respected author of the bestselling memoir A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sargent Shriver. Taste of the Triangle

What is synonymous in Southeast Texas with Fat Tuesday? Of course it’s the long-standing tradition of Taste of the Triangle, which will celebrate 35 years on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Southeast Texas’ premier foodie fest will have everything your belly desires as more than 40 area restaurants serve up everything from Italian, Cajun and Thai, to country classics and soul food, in a festive Mardi Gras atmosphere.

Bringing Back the Memories Car Show is on Dec 2nd at City Hall

The Beaumont City Hall parking lot will be filled with some smooth rides this weekend as the Bringing Back the Memories Car Show will be held there Saturday, Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will also feature games and amusements for kids. Come see some great cars with officers from the Beaumont Police Department. All proceeds will benefit the BPD’s Cops & Kids Program, which is designed around the idea of teaching children that law enforcement officers are friends and protectors.
