Ozen forms Rotary Interact Club

Clifton J. Ozen Magnet High School students and officers were installed into the Rotary-sponsored Interact Club on Nov. 9, 2017. Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Ozen’s club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Beaumont and is recognized by Rotary International as a new charter club.

The Rocky Horror Show runs at PALT Nov 3 and Nov 4

If you still can get enough of Halloween, there one more weekend of The Rocky Horror Show by Port Arthur Little Theatre (PALT) Tickets for the Friday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Nov. 4, shows at 8 p.m. are $25 and can be purchased online at palt.org. Under the local direction of Jeff Courts, the story centers on a young engaged couple whose car breaks down in the rain near a castle where they seek a telephone to call for help. The castle is occupied by strangers in elaborate costumes celebrating an annual convention. They discover the head of the house is Frank N.

It’s a perfect night out with the kids as Beaumont Community Players Kidmunity troupe presents Beauty and the Beast on Thursday, July 20, through Saturday, July 22, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Based on an 18th century classic French tale then turned into an award winning movie by Walt Disney Pictures in 1991 as well as in 2017, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of a cold-hearted prince who has been transformed into a “beast” due to his selfish ways and has to find true love to revert back to a human.

The Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts is in the midst of hosting “Steel Magnolias” for three shows this weekend beginning Friday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. and two on Saturday, April 15, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Written by Robert Harling as a play, “Steel Magnolias” made its Off-Broadway debut in 1987 then was adapted as a big screen release in 1989 starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirly MacLaine, Julia Roberts and Daryl Hannah. It finally made its Broadway debut in 2005 at the Lyceum Theatre.
