More than 100 new Seahawks attended Lamar State College - Port Arthur's three-hour orientation on Thursday, Aug. 7, reports Dave Rogers of LSC-PA.

New students and their family members arrived in drives for the informational session and to tour the campus. In this photo, the students and families cross Lakeshore Drive from the Performing Arts Center to the Parker Center as part of the tour during the student orientation held in advance of the start of Fall 2014 semester beginning Aug. 25.

Dr. W. Sam Monroe, who has been a part of Lamar State College-Port Arthur for 49 years including serving as president for the past 39, has announced he will retire effective Aug. 31, 2014.

Author Richard Glaubman will appear at Lamar State College-Port Arthur where he will speak about his book “Life Is So Good”. The event is open to the general public and is free to attend.

A trio of Southeast Texas high school softball talents jotted their signatures on the line as they joined Lamar State College – Port Arthur’s Seahawks during two separate ceremonies Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Rebekah Blanda and Colleen Brown, both of Beaumont West Brook High School, signed their letters of intent Tuesday morning in the school’s library while family, friends and a happy group of Lamar State-Port Arthur coaches looked on.
