State District Judge Larry Gist of the Drug Impact Court of Jefferson County accepted a jury verdict Nov. 15, sentencing Nicholas Roy Morris, 28, to six years in prison, Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced.

A Port Arthur man arrested during a warrant search at a gaming site at 2680 Washington Blvd. in Beaumont was indicted Aug. 23 for possession of a controlled substance after police allegedly found a rubber ball containing “liquid weed” inside the man’s jacket.

A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy discovered 18 bottles of suspected codeine, a small amount of marijuana and a couple of colorful pills during a traffic stop on I-10 eastbound Aug. 19, reports Deputy Marcus McLellan. 

According to McLellan, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Brigitte Hazleton was working traffic on I-10 eastbound at about 12:30 p.m. when he stopped a silver Chrysler 300 at mile marker 847 for speeding.

Quincy Davis Jr. was just 10 years old when a car crash claimed his life prior to the end of the 2016-17 school year. According to reports at the time, the Beaumont ISD Pietzch-MacArthur Elementary School student was thrown from the back passenger seat of a vehicle driven by the boy’s mother when the car hit a utility pole in the South End of Beaumont just before 8 p.m. on May 16.

Local law enforcers executing a narcotics search warrant in the 3100 block of Gulf Street in Beaumont reportedly found meth, marijuana and a cache of weapons - weapons that officers believe could be related to recent gun violence in the area.

After discovering kilos of cocaine and bundles of marijuana along the shoreline at the beach, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office warned people celebrating the July 4 holiday on the waterfront to call law enforcement if they see any of the drugs and to beware of dangerous toxins possibly seeping from the potentially perilous packages.

Monday, June 26, at about 12:53 a.m., Beaumont Police officers were patrolling the parking lot of Petro at 5405 Walden Road.

The officers made contact with the driver of a silver Dodge Charger and sensed a heavy odor of marijuana. K-9 Gus and his handler responded to the scene to assist. Investigation revealed a black trash bag containing 26.8 pounds of marijuana.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as George Stevenson, 42, from Pascagoula, Mississippi, was transported and booked into the Jefferson County Jail for possession of marijuana.

June 14 at about 4 p.m., deputies with the JCSO Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop on I-10 near Smith Road. The vehicle was being driven by 38-year-old Benina Villarreal of Rio Grande City, Texas. She had her 18-year-old daughter and her 9-year-old son as passengers.
